Carried On The Wind
This track was created as a hidden track for the CD release of my album Isolation. Isolation is a collection of piano miniatures documenting life and emotions during the first lockdown. It was recorded by my friend Késia Decoté who was living and working in Brazil at the time.
Carried On The Wind is a sound collage of life in lockdown. It combines sounds which I recorded in the city which I was living in, both from my flat and on my daily walks, and sounds which Késia recorded from her apartment in Brasilia.
It begins with my recordings: road traffic and maintenance, birds in the local park, clock chimes. It then transitions to Késia’s experience in Brasilia: hearing her neighbours having dinner through the open windows, the fruit seller’s car, her toy piano improvisations.
As the piano pieces were musical documentation of my internal response to the lockdown events, I wanted to compliment it with a piece which documented the external sounds which Késia and I both experienced during the lockdown.
